Summary / Background Draft 1

The article “Bugatti Chiron review - the final generation of Bugatti's W16 masterpiece” from Meaden (2023) discusses the Bugatti Chiron, a high performance supercar with a 16-cylinder engine delivering “1479 bhp and 1180 lb ft of torque”. It accelerates incredibly quickly, reaching speeds of 124 mph faster than a Ford Focus ST can hit 62mph, and it has a top speed of 261mph (420 km/h). The article goes on to praise the Chiron's engine as an impressive feat of engineering. It features an 8.0-liter W16 engine, crafted by combining two V8 engines at a 90-degree angle, resulting in a compact 16-cylinder engine, more space-efficient than a V12. Supported by four turbochargers, two of which come into play below 3800 rpm, and all four activated beyond that point, the Chiron offers instantaneous power delivery across the entire rpm range (Philip, 2022). Cooling an engine that produces up to 3000 hp of thermal energy is no easy task. It requires 2 separate water cooling systems, a hig...

Initial Research Pathway

We made a quick search on ChatGPT to find topics on automobiles and decided on Aerodynamics. Dylan searched how aerodynamics works and affects the fuel efficiency and performance of an automobile. However, after clarifying with the professor on the requirements of the summary, we realized that we needed to choose a specific device, and our current topic was too vague. Using ChatGPT, we decided to get another perspective by prompting it to provide us with examples of mechanical devices common in automotive engineering. With prompts taken from ChatGPT like the engine, transmission and aerodynamics, we landed on the Bugatti Chiron, a performance vehicle which excelled in all these factors. Using Google, we delved deeper into the unique features of the vehicle that differs it from its competition and decided to synthesise our summary from the articles we read.

Self Introduction

Dear Professor Brad,   My name is Ang Wei Jie, and I am writing to introduce myself as a student in your communication class. I am a Year 1 Mechanical Engineering student in SIT attending your module, Critical Thinking and Communication.   I am a graduate of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, holding a Diploma in Aerospace Engineering. My passion for engineering lies in the art of problem-solving, specifically troubleshooting and discovering solutions. It provides a sense of fulfillment that I have become addicted to.   In the past three years, with the onset of the pandemic, an excess amount of time sparked a newfound curiosity within me. Similar to a child’s eagerness to learn, this curiosity has motivated me to learn and try new skills and hobbies, ranging from cooking and camping to financial literacy and even the realm of motorcycles.   One of the most notable journeys has been my exploration of motorcycles. With minimal prior knowledge, I embarked on the path of obtaining a...

Interpretation of Quote

"Developing excellent communication skills is absolutely essential to effective leadership. The leader must be able to share knowledge and ideas to transmit a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others. If a leader can't get a message across clearly and motivate others to act on it, then having a message doesn't even matter." -Gilbert Amelio, former President and CEO of National Semiconductor Corp This quote has given me a fresh perspective on leadership. It emphasizes that even with vast experience and skills, an effective leader requires more. Developing communication skills is essential. A good leader must be able to convey a message that can be easily understood by their team. Therefore, being able to communicate well is another defining quality of a good leader.
